This course is designed to give a detailed overview of investing and how to use exchange traded funds (ETFs) to achieve an investing plan. It will discuss the major asset classes (stocks, bonds and cash) and how to develop an asset mix utilizing these investments. It will compare mutual funds and ETFs, including the differences in taxes and fees. The course will cover how indexes and index-based ETFs are constructed and it will discuss the difference between active and passive investing strategies. Specialty ETFs will be reviewed, including how inverse and double ETFs are structured and how they perform under different market conditions.
Students should have strong English Language skills. Completion of grade 12 English and Mathematics are strongly recommended.
