The Science Communication executive certificate program, offered through the Centre for Executive and Professional Studies, is the only standalone program of its kind in Ontario. It will equip you with the key knowledge and skills you need for effective science communication across a variety of platforms. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, you'll be taught by expert faculty and hear from prominent guest speakers.
This program will appeal to those who have previously taken clinical research, regulatory affairs and other science-based programs. It will also be of interest to scientists who are working at hospitals and want to become better writers, story-tellers or digitally-engaged communicators.
Courses
The Science Communication executive certificate program consists of six courses (four courses and two workshops). Courses will run on Tuesday nights and the two-part workshop will be held on two Saturdays.
Science Writing is course one in the Science Communication executive certificate program.
This course focuses on writing and speaking, and on their cardinal rules of clarity, simplicity, and accuracy in communicating science. Students will write short pieces for both professional and public audiences as well as deliver short presentations designed to hone their skills in written and verbal communication in the science industry.
