The Science Communication executive certificate program, offered through the Centre for Executive and Professional Studies, is the only standalone program of its kind in Ontario. It will equip you with the key knowledge and skills you need for effective science communication across a variety of platforms. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, you'll be taught by expert faculty and hear from prominent guest speakers.
This program will appeal to those who have previously taken clinical research, regulatory affairs and other science-based programs. It will also be of interest to scientists who are working at hospitals and want to become better writers, story-tellers or digitally-engaged communicators.
Courses
The Science Communication executive certificate program consists of six courses (four courses and two workshops). Courses will run on Tuesday nights and the two-part workshop will be held on two Saturdays.
Science Storytelling is course three in the Science Communication executive certificate program.
The course will teach students how to render abstract science research and topics into understandable and engaging stories for public consumption is the objective of this course. Students will study and apply various narrative techniques to shape their personal research interests into stimulating stories.
