How to Host a Fundraiser

Here are the steps for creating a fundraiser and ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø resources that are available to you.

Step 1: Choose an idea

Think about what excites you and your colleagues the most that can be done virtually or on-campus. Consider a costume contest, physical challenge, online sale, virtual game sessions, trivia parties or scavenger hunts.

Step 2: Contact the Advancement team

±Ê±ô±ð²¹²õ±ðÌýemail Caterina Ventrella. We will promote your fundraiser on the Advancement & Alumni Intranet page and other communication platforms. We can also provide you with marketing materials for your fundraiser.

Step 3: Start planning

Determine What is needed for your fundraiser. Where will it be hosted, who is your audience, and how will you collect money for this fundraising initative?Ìý

Running your fundraiser

Allow plenty of time to set up for the event before the official start time. Ensure that if your fundraiser is virtual, your technology is working smoothly. If your fundraiser is in person, arrive early to be sure you have the necessary tables, chairs and resources.

Your fundraiser will require a way to accept payment. In some cases, the Advancement team will be able to set up an online payment page for your fundraiser or be able to loan you a Moneris machine. ±Ê±ô±ð²¹²õ±ðÌýemail Caterina Ventrella.

Remember to take lots of pictures of smiling faces and your volunteers. These photos will be used in the campaign highlight video and pictures of faces are the most fun to see.

You should also tweet your photos live from your fundraiser. Remember to tag @ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍøCampaign and use #ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍøGives and #ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍøProud. Your photos can be used to show the great work that has been done to raise money for students. ±Ê±ô±ð²¹²õ±ðÌýemail your best photos to Helen Yip.Ìý
