Annual Attestation

Scope

ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Polytechnic is committed to the values of equity, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of its operations and activities. This commitment and policy apply to all members of the Board of Governors.

Policy

1. ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø is a Crown agency accountable through the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.

  1. The Board of Governors is responsible for setting the vision, strategy and overall outcomes of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.
  2. Responsibility for operations and management of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø is delegated to the President.
  3. The Board of Governors has an obligation to discharge its responsibilities and duties honestly and in good faith, with a view to the best interests of the institution, in a manner that inspires trust and confidence, adhering to the highest standards of conduct.
  4. Governors are to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful and collegial manner exercising the care, diligence and skill that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in comparable circumstances, while carrying out their responsibilities in accordance to By-Law No. 1 and in compliance with the Governance and Accountability Policy Directive for Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, 2023 and the Conflict of Interest Policy Directive for Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, 2023.
  5. While it is expected that Governors will bring to the Board a variety of perspectives, a Governor’s responsibility is to ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø and its well-being, and not to any other organization, private interest, community or sector.
  6. Conflicts of interest between the goals and functions of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø and those of other groups must be resolved in favour of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.

2. Annual attestation

  1. Under By-Law No. 1, Governors shall complete all legislated conflict of interest attestations.
  2. Each Governor will attest annually that in exercising their responsibilities, they will adhere to By-Law No. 1 and the Governance and Accountability Policy Directive for Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, 2023 and the Conflict of Interest Policy Directive for Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, 2023, and accept the consequences of any actions which violate the same.
