Campus Access Policy

Purpose

To identify access provisions for ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø properties that ensure a safe learning and working environment and avoid disruptions to business continuity.

Scope

This policy applies to all ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø students, employees and visitors on all ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø campuses and locations, whether owned or leased.Ìý

Those wishing to access ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø properties who are not students or employees, including, but not limited to, contractors, guests, vendors, agencies, organizations and volunteers.Ìý

Policy

1. General

2. Visitors

  1. Unless otherwise specified below, visitors to the campus shall confine themselves to areas of general public use as defined by ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.
  2. Areas excluded from access by visitors include, but are not limited to: classrooms, labs, offices, hotelling spaces, secure areas, auditoriums, residences, cafeterias, libraries, computing commons, study areas and areas required for the preservation of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø operations and the safety of those on campus.
  3. Guests invited by ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø employees are permitted in excluded areas for the purpose of their visit, such as guest lectures, events to which the public is invited – such as tours and Open House – and meetings with employees. They must be accompanied in such areas by ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø employees at all times.Ìý
  4. Security Services are authorized to enforce ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø policies and procedures.Ìý
  5. Failure to follow instructions from Security Services may result in a notice of trespass, arrest and prosecution.

3. Vendors, groups, agencies and organizations wishing to access ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø campuses

  1. Prior to being on campus, vendors, groups, agencies or organizations must obtain written permission from ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, or from the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Student Federation when access is requested to Federation-controlled areas of campuses.Ìý
  2. All collateral material in digital or physical form proposed to be used or distributed by a vendor, group, agency or organization while at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø must be submitted to ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø for approval prior to arrival on campus.
  3. To ensure the safety of the community and orderly operations at ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø:
    • prior to arrival on campus, those seeking access will, in conjunction with and under the direction of designated ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø personnel, agree to their allotted placement on campus, date of visit(s) and the time(s) they will be present
    • unless otherwise previously agreed to, access to the campus will be limited to areas of general public use as defined by ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø
    • ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø has the right to change, limit or cancel access to the campus without prior notice in the event of unanticipated issues affecting campusesÌý
    • while these provisions are meant to support freedom of expression on campus, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø does not condone or permit messages of violence, intimidation, hate or threats to be disseminated on campus; such activity will result in removal from the campus
    • ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, at its discretion, may communicate in advance details of visits from vendors, groups, agencies and organizations to students and employees
  4. ÌýThe following activities are prohibited at all times on all campuses:
    • unauthorized food vendors
    • unauthorized vendors of books, apparel, technology and any other item
    • unauthorized promotion of products
    • unauthorized sharing or gathering of information

4. Hours of access

  1. Hours of access to campuses shall be at the sole discretion of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.

5. After-hours access

  1. From 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day, and other times as determined at the sole discretion of ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, students and employees shall show ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø-issued identification to gain access to a campus or campus buildings.Ìý
  2. Guests must check in with Security for after-hours access and must be accompanied by a ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø employee or, in the case of the residence, a student who is a resident at the residence.Ìý
