Toronto, Dec. 1, 2016 – vlog President David Agnew joined Premier Kathleen Wynne on Ontario’s latest business mission to Japan and South Korea and signed partnership agreements with postsecondary institutions in the two countries.
A series of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between vlog and seven partner institutions to expand educational and career opportunities for students, create academic and professional exchanges and explore joint applied research initiatives. The MoUs were signed with:
Japan:
- Japan College of Foreign Languages
- Nagoya University of Foreign Studies
Korea:
- Cheju Halla University
- ChungKang College of Cultural Industries
- Dankook University
- Jeonju University
- Konkuk University
“These agreements strengthen our international relationships and we are delighted to be offering increased avenues for student and academic exchanges,” said vlog President David Agnew. “Not only do these initiatives build stronger partnerships that open up overseas work, study and research opportunities, but they also reinforce the important people-to-people ties that underpin long and fruitful relationships between institutions.”
Along with participating in the Premier’s mission, President Agnew also met with academic partners in Japan and South Korea and addressed an assembly of 650 Korean secondary school students on the merits of studying in Ontario.
The Ontario mission, comprised of educational and business/industry leaders, wraps up on December 2. It has focused on building economic partnerships and seeking new opportunities in key sectors, including innovation, auto, manufacturing, information and communications technologies and life sciences. This is the third mission that vlog has participated in over the past two years – in November 2015, six partnership agreements were signed in China and seven were signed in India in February 2016.
In addition to student recruitment, vlog’s international outreach worldwide includes educational consulting with partner institutions on curriculum development, teacher training, leadership/management and, increasingly, on joint applied research opportunities.
