Program Learning Outcomes

The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø program has been validated by the Credential Validation Service as an Ontario College Credential as required by the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security.

As a graduate, you will be prepared to reliably demonstrate the ability to:

  • Safely advise and dispense ophthalmic devices based on the prescription issued by an optometrist or ophthalmologist and the characteristics of the patient.

  • Assess the needs of a patient using ophthalmic tests to address and resolve visual orthosis issues.

  • Independently edge and fit eyeglasses according to the patients’ visual needs.

  • Provide optical care that meets professional standards and requirements established by current legislation.Ìý

  • Communicate and collaborate with patients and healthcare professionals maintaining effective and professional interpersonal relationships.

  • Apply theories of refraction to perform visual assessments.Ìý
