We’ve prepared this resource to help you host a virtual celebration with family and friends far and wide.

10 Steps to Host a Virtual Celebration

1. Consider who you would like to invite to your virtualcelebration

Smaller gatherings provide a better opportunity to connect with your guests.

2. Choose your platform

There are many virtual event and meeting platforms to choose from. When making your selection, make sure to consider what resources your guests are able to easily access.

3. Make your event festive

Decorate your home or find the perfect outdoor venue. The possibilities are endless.

4. Send out your invitations

Make sure you include key information with your guests such as:

  • event start and end time
  • the link to join the event
  • additional links to any other apps guests will use during your event
  • important steps or instructions
  • an event agenda

5. Turn up the #vlogGrad Spotify playlist

6.Test your connection and host yourevent

As the event host, you should log in at least 15 to 30 minutes before the scheduled start time for your event. This will allow you to complete a technical check to ensure that everything is working properly.

7.Let the fun begin

Connecting and chatting with your guests may be the sole focus of your event. If you would like to incorporate games or activities, here are some suggestions:

For Desktop

How to Apply Virtual Backgrounds

Save the desired #vlogGrad virtual background(s) on your device.

MS Teams

  1. When you are in a Microsoft Teams call, select the “…” on the meeting settings bar
  2. Select "Apply background effects" followed by “+ Add new” in the background settings pane
  3. Locate and select the desired #SenedaGrad virtual background on your device
  4. Either preview or select apply to enable your background.

Webex

  1. Selectthe “Audio & Video”menu, then select“Change VirtualBackground”
  2. Select the “+” button in the grid; if a download alert pop-up appears, select “Download”
  3. Locate and select the desired #vlogGrad virtual background on your device
  4. Check the preview window to ensure the virtual background appears. Select the “Apply” button to enable your background.

Zoom

  1. In a Zoom meeting, select the upwardarrow next to“Start/Stop Video”
  2. Select“Choose Virtual Background...”, then select “+ Add image”
  3. If prompted, select“Download”to download the package for virtual background without a green screen
  4. Locate and select the desired #vlogGrad virtual background on your device.Close the settings window to enable your background.
